Lewandowski Plans To Beat Future Team Bayern

May 28th, 2014 — 12:34pm

Polish international striker Robert Lewandowski has stated that his story with Borussia Dortmund is not finished yet since he plans to help his current team beat his future team, Bayern Munich, in the final of the DFB-Pokal Cup. Dortmund and Bayern Munich have been the most successful German teams in the last five years. They will be once again meeting to whether for an epic clash in the final of this competition. Dortmund only recently managed to thrash Munich in the league match. It was largely due to the presence of Lewandowski, who is set to join Bayern in the summer.

Even though the deal was announced several months ago, the 25-year-old has been playing with a lot of commitment just as he announced. The striker signed a five-year contract after letting his contract with Dortmund run down. However, unlike Mario Gotze who left Dortmund in similar circumstances last summer, Lewandowski has not been faced with criticism from the fans. This is because he was a large part in the club reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League and almost knocking the current finalists Real Madrid.

Further, he has also been able to create a renaissance within the club during the second half of the season. Hence, they are set finished as runners-up to Bayern in the league table a albeit by 20 points.

“I’ve learned a lot here in Dortmund and I know that I’m a better player now than I was four years ago. But there’s still a lot of football to be played. It was my last game in Dortmund but we still have two more matches to play in Berlin [against Hertha on the final weekend of the league season, and then Bayern in the German Cup final]. These have been four fantastic years for me at BVB and they’re not over yet. I’ve scored a lot of goals and experienced so many great moments here,a? said Lewandowski.

BALE WARY OF LEWANDOWSKI

May 8th, 2014 — 11:06am

Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale has said that his teammates should be wary of the threat posed by Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, who is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world right now. The Polish international missed the first leg between the two clubs in the Champions League quarter-finals due to suspension. He will return for the second leg, but it is almost of no use for the German outfit, as they are on the brink of being knocked out of the competition. They suffered a 3-0 defeat in the first leg.

This is almost ended any hopes of reaching the semifinals for the second consecutive season. Borussia Dortmund managed to beat Real Madrid in the semifinals last season and it was largely down to the exploits of Lewandowski, who scored all four goals for Dortmund in the tie. Ahead of the second leg, Gareth Bale, who became the worldas most expensive transfer at A? 86 million, says that Lewandowski still has the quality to impact on the tie, but he believes that Madrid have enough quality and advantage to be able to see out the threat.

Lewandowski has agreed a move to Bayern Munich in the summer and this could be his last European appearance for Dortmund.

a?He is a great player and has been showing that over the last few years, but we have to concentrate on our own job, like we did in the first leg, defending well. You can’t do things any differently when you come up against other good attacking players. We have to defend well and I hope the team is at its best for this game. We are focussed on getting our revenge in the Champions League,a? said Bale ahead of the second leg on Tuesday night. The first leg was at the Santiago Bernabeu.
