Bayern Munich expresses delight after 5-0 rout of Borussia Dortmund

Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac has expressed his delight after the Bavarian giants secured a comfortable 5-0 triumph over Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena. The Bundesliga holders have been put under immense pressure with the challenge from Dortmund, but they managed to leapfrog their rivals to the top of the table with a resounding win against them.

Speaking after the game, Kovac was pleased with the response from the team, who had played out a frustrating 1-1 draw against Freiburg last weekend, he said: “We put them instantly under pressure. We wanted to attack them early and we overran them. It was exactly what we had set out to do. We may have had some slip-ups this season but that happens. There were many critics of this team and that is why I am really happy for my players today.”

Robert Lewandowski highlights James Rodriguez’s importance to Bayern Munich

Poland international Robert Lewan dowski has highlighted that James Rodriguez remains a valuable player for Bayern Munich despite struggling for regular gametime under manager Niko Kovac. The Colombia international returned following a hamstring injury during the winter break but he has since failed to break into the starting lineup.

Speaking to reporters, Lewan dowski said that Rodriguez is an outstanding player to have in the team and he could be influential towards the club’s progress during the course of the campaign, he said: “He’s an outstanding player. With a pass like the one against Hoffenheim, he can show all his talent. That’s important for us. No matter how many minutes you play. Then you produce something special. That can only be good for the team.”

Niko Kovac impressed with professionalism of Bayern Munich duo

Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovac has been pleased with the performances of Robert Lewandowski and Jerome Boateng during the opening stages of the ongoing campaign. The duo were heavily tipped to part ways with the club during the backend of the summer transfer window but ultimately, they decided to stay put for different reasons.

Speaking in a news conference, Kovac hailed the impact of Lewandowski and Boateng since the season started and praised them as ‘great professionals’ on the playing field, he said: “[Boateng and Lewandowski] are great professionals, world-class players. They know what they have to do. That they play so well does not surprise me. That’s what I hoped for and expected.”
