                BURNLEY SET TO CASH IN AROUND SEVEN-FIGURE FEE FOR KEY DEFENDER

Barnsley defender Michael Helik is set to leave Barnsley for Europe with the club expected to accept a seven-figure fee from Polish side Lech Poznan, according to reports. Helik has not yet agreed personal terms with the Ekstraklasa champions but a four-year deal is on the table according to an article from Inertia Sport. The 26-year-old has widely been expected to leave this summer following the club’s relegation from the Championship where he was named Player of the Year by his teammates.

Lech Poznan are reportedly offering Barnsley €1.5 million for his services plus an additional €500,000 in performance-related bonuses which would make the deal a record transfer in the Polish top-flight. Helik joined the Tykes in 2020 from Cracovia and helped the club reach the play-offs in his first campaign with the South Yorkshire side. The player will be aiming to play in the World Cup and wants to play his football this season at a higher level, with Poznan seen as an ideal move for both Helik and Barnsley. Continue reading »
