Robert Lewandowski highlights James Rodriguez’s importance to Bayern Munich
Poland international Robert Lewan dowski has highlighted that James Rodriguez remains a valuable player for Bayern Munich despite struggling for regular gametime under manager Niko Kovac. The Colombia international returned following a hamstring injury during the winter break but he has since failed to break into the starting lineup.

Rodriguez has struggled to make himself a regular with the Bavarian giants over the past 18 months and reports have recently indicated that the club have no plans of turning the two-year loan deal into a permanent one during the summer. As such, Rodriguez is bound to return to parent club Real Madrid but he could thereafter pursue a fresh challenge with the Premier League being a probable destination.
Elsewhere, Bayern have somewhat sorted themselves with the recent winning streak and they are currently six points off the top of the Bundesliga table. Nonetheless, they can’t afford any blemishes during the forthcoming games, given leaders Borussia Dortmund have looked impressive on both ends of the field as they seek to end Bayern’s dominance.
Meanwhile, Kovac’s men have a challenge on their hands to progress beyond the round of 16 stage of the Champions League after being pitted against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. The Reds only progressed to the knockout phase with their perfect home record but Bayern can expect a tough contest with the frontline of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino once more clicking.
