NATIONS LEAGUE: POLAND FACE BELGIUM TEST

Poland would wary of facing a wounded lion when they take on home team Belgiumin their second game in Group A4 of the 2022/23 UEFA Nations League campaign. Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski and his Poland national team colleagues are in the same group as Wales and the Netherlands in addition to the Red Devils of Belgium.


Belgium have to produce a very good performance against Poland to appease their fans after the embarrassing 4-1 defeat to the Netherlands. Barcelona attacker Memphis Depay scored a brace for the Dutch team on the way to an emphatic away victory in Brussels. Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries and Tottenham Hotspur forward Steven Bergwijn were the other goalscorers for the three-time World Cup finalists.

Poland are on a two-match winning run ahead of their visit to Brussels to face Belgium on Monday. They have beaten Sweden and Wales in their last two games on the international scene. The winning run started after the 1-1 international friendly draw with Scotland in March. Poland faced Sweden in a World Cup 2022  playoff for the UEFA region  some days after the Scotland game with the game ending in a 2-0 win. Napoli midfielder Piotr Zelinski scored the decisive second goal to take Poland to the World Cup at the expense of visitors Sweden. Thanks to their home win over Sweden, Poland will make a second successive World Cup appearance when hostilities begin at this year’s World Cup tournament on Qatari soil. The World Cup in Qatar starts on November 21 through to December 18.

The Polish team made it two straight wins with the 2-1 comeback victory over Wales. Swindon Town midfielder Jonny Williams gave Wales the lead in the second half after the first half ended with no goal. Poland turned the game around thanks to two substitutes, Jakub Kaminski and Karol Swiderski.
