LEWANDOWSKI WINS GOLDEN PLAYER AWARD

Poland striker Robert Lewandowski was one of the biggest winners at the Golden Boy Awards organised by Italian media outlet Tuttosport. Robert Lewandowski was named the recipient of the Golden Player Award after the Poland national team skipper painted this year with goals in the colours of club and country.

The Polish international played a big role as Bayern Munich won an impressive treble including the Champions League title. The Poland striker was named the Player of the Season after the UEFA Awards were given out to recipients when the Champions League draw took place earlier this year.

Robert Lewandowski was not the only one from Bayern to win an award after the club’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was named the recipient of the Manager of the Year Award. He has been in a management position at the Allianz Arena since 1991 and the German has helped build the Bavarian giants into one of the top three clubs on the European football scene.

Poland striker Robert Lewandowski fired Bayern Munich to the Champions League title at the end of last season and the Polish national team skipper could cement his legendary status at the club if he’s able to help the Bavarian giants retain the Champions League title this season.

Apart from Real Madrid, no other club has been able to retain the Champions League title and Bayern Munich could be the second team to achieve this feat if they are able to win the competition this term. Bayern Munich have started on a good note by winning their group. The Bavarian giants won Group A ahead of Atletico Madrid FC of Spain, Red Bull Salzburg FC of Austria and Russian topflight team Lokomotiv Moscow. The reward for winning the group is a last 16 meeting with Lazio after the draw took place on Monday.
