LEWANDOWSKI EXTENDS BAYERN MUNICH CONTRACT

Poland international, Robert Lewandowski has signed a contract extension at Bayern Munich that will keep him at the Bundesliga giants until 2021.


The Bayern Munich star, who signed for Bayern from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, has scored 86 goals in 122 games for the club. The striker has scored 19 goals so far this season.

Bayern Munich are currently top of the German Bundesliga and are nine points ahead of bitter rivals, Borussia Dortmund. They are currently bidding for a record-breaking fifth consecutive league title.

They are also in the Round – Of a�� 16 of the Champions League where they will come up against English side, Arsenal.

a�?I am very happy that the negotiations were successful,a�? Lewandowski said. a�?It means I will stay at Bayern for a few more yearsa�?.

a�?I am happy that we managed to tie one of the best centre forwards in the world to the club for the long term. We have now guaranteed that another key player will continue to wear the Bayern shirt for the coming yearsa�?, said Bayern chief executive Karl a�� Heinze Rummenigge.

Lewandowski was the highest goalscorer in the Bundesliga last season after scoring a record breaking 30 goals. He was followed up closely by Dortmund striker, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang who scored 25 goals.

Lewandowski was ranked 16th in the Ballon da��Or voting that was just released as Cristiano Ronaldo won it for the fourth time. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang was however ranked 11th, five places ahead of Bayern striker, Lewandowski.

Lewandowski appeared to mock the result on social media by writing a�?cabareta�? on Twitter and also posting laughing emojis.
