PSG host Bayern in the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal clash and the French champions would have been boosted by the new development that Poland national team talisman Lewandowski won’t be available due to the knee injury that made him miss the first leg on Wednesday night.

The Bayern striker told Sky Sports in an interview on Wednesday night that he won’t be fit for the PSG game. According to him, he’s not ready to return to action unless he feels well enough. He’s the reigning FIFA Player of the Year Award winner after beating Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to the award at the end of last year.

Lewandowski sustained the knee injury while on international break with Poland. He suffered the injury during the World Cup 2022 qualifier with Andorra at the end of last month. The Bayern Munich striker missed the qualifying match with England as a result and has missed two games for his club on the back of the international break.

The Poland striker was absent for the big win over title rivals RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga last weekend. He was rarely missed as Bayern edge seven points clear of Leipzig in second place with a 1-0 away win through the first half goal from Leon Goretzka. The win ensured that Bayern are closing in on another league title.

Lewandowski was then sorely missed as Bayern were beaten 3-2 at home by PSG in the first leg of their round of eight tie. To this effect, they need to score at least two goals without reply awayfrom home in the second leg to qualify for the semis ahead of their hosts, PSG.
