FABIANSKI ON COURSE

Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is on course to seal an exit from the club after failing to agree a new contract with the Premier league outfit. The Polish goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of the season and he looks unhappy after his failure to dislodge Wojciech Szczesny from the number one position. Fabianski was an Arsenal regular a few years ago, but some high-profile mistakes led to the inclusion of Szczesny into the team. Since then, he has struggled to replace his international teammate at the club. The 28-year-old has been offered a new contract by Arsenal, but it is understood that he has rejected it in favour of a move to a foreign club.

He believes that a change will help him establish himself in the national team since he is at the perfect age in his career to be the first choice for the national team. Poland have failed to qualify for the World Cup 2014, but the increase of participating teams to 24 is expected to improve their chances of qualifying to the Euro 2016. Szczesny currently holds the first-team spot for the national team, but Fabianski will be looking into a possible spot in the team by Euro 2016. He has been impressive for Arsenal in recent weeks due to Szczesnyas absence.

“I don’t think I have to prove anything. Like I have said many times, I am just enjoying the games and trying to help the team in every situation they expect me to help. With the penalties, it is either you get it or not, and I was lucky so I am pleased with that,” said the 28-year-old, who played against Bayern Munich in the 1-1 draw since Szczesny was sent off in the first leg with a straight red card.
