Alphonso Davies heaps praise on Lewandowski after Bundesliga title win

Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies heaped praise on Robert Lewandowski after the Poland international helped the club win another league title. The 31-year-old has been in stupendous form over the course of the season and he bagged his 30th and 31st goals of the league campaign as Bayern won the Bundesliga with two games to spare.

Speaking after the game, Davies was delighted with the efforts of the former Borussia Dortmund man and described him as the best striker in the world, he told: “We call him ‘Lewangoalski’ for that reason. He’s a top striker, the top in the world. Coming in and scoring 31 goals, it’s unbelievable. Incredible.”

Meanwhile, the Canada international also had fond words to say about manager Hansi Flick, who took charge of the club from Niko Kovac in November after the club were in bad run of form, he added: “He’s a good coach, he expects a lot from his players. We know we have to battle each and every game for everything.”

Under Flick, Bayern have won 23 of their 26 games across all competitions and the club have remained unbeaten across all competitions since the turn of the year. The Bavarian giants have another two games to conclude the season and Flick will want his team to end the league campaign on a high by extending their unbeaten run in 2020.

Thereafter, the club have the opportunity to win the DFB-Pokal Cup where they are scheduled to face Bayer Leverkusen in the final. Elsewhere, they are favourites to reach the quarter finals of the Champions League following their 3-0 win over Chelsea in the first leg of the round of 16. UEFA have announced that the quarter-final and semi-final phase of the competition will involve one-legged ties played in Lisbon and it remains to be seen whether Bayern will benefit from the same.
